Viacom/Nickelodeon(LOS ANGELES) — The Kids’ Choice Awards, hosted by Victoria Justice, looked a little different this year, trading the stage and buckets of slime for a socially-distanced award ceremony on Saturday. On top of making the awards ceremony all-virtual, it also doubled as a fundraiser for No Kid Hungry, in which Nickelodeon announced it donated $1 million to help end child hunger.
However, that didn’t stop kids from casting their vote for their favorites and holding out hope that, perhaps, someone might get slimed when accepting their coveted orange blimp.
Instead, stars like Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello promised that, in lieu of getting slimed, they’ll be making homemade organic slime to complete the night’s festivities. However, JoJo Siwa did more than simply deliver on getting slimed, she made sure she was completely covered in the green goo and even brushed her teeth with it.
The big winners of the night were Stranger Things and the Avengers: Endgame — each winning two blimps each. Stranger Things took home the honor for Favorite Family TV Show and Favorite Female TV Star — for Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven. Avengers: Endgame scored wins for Favorite Movie and Favorite Superhero — for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.
Henry Danger bagged the top prize for Favorite Kids TV Show and Favorite Male TV Star — for Jace Norman’s Henry Hart — , while America’s Got Talent won for Favorite Reality Drama. Ellen DeGeneres was voted Favorite TV Host.
Jumanji: The Next Level‘s Dwayne Johnson took home the trophy for Favorite Movie Actor while Disney’s Descendants 3 star Dove Cameron took home the blimp for Favorite Movie Actress.
Frozen 2 was voted Favorite Animated Movie, with Josh Gad wining the award for Favorite Male Voice from an Animated Movie for playing Olaf. Beyonce scored a win for Favorite Female Voice from an Animated Movie for voicing Nala in Disney’s The Lion King.
In the music categories, Shawn Mendes took home the most awards with two wins.
