Daniel Craig can’t let go of James Bond’s reflexes in ‘SNL’ promo

Rosalind O’Connor/NBC(NEW YORK) — Daniel Craig has wrapped his final turn as James Bond, but he apparently can’t leave the super-spy’s license to kill behind, judging from a new promo for his hosting stint this weekend on Saturday Night Live

The snippet has Craig insisting he loves hosting the show because it allows him to showcase a side of him not shown in the world of 007, and he’s up for anything to “keep things light.”

However, when cast member Beck Bennett claps the star on the back from behind, Craig goes into Bond mode, whipping Bennett around and “breaking” the comic’s arm.

Chris Redd suffers a similar fate when an attempt to “bro hug” the star: Craig puts Redd in an arm bar, and screams at the comic: “WHO DO YOU WORK FOR?!”

When Redd answers “Lorne,” as in SNL creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels, Craig relents: “Ohh, Lorne!  Give him my best, will you?”

Aidy Bryant also takes an elbow to her shoulder, for no apparent reason.

The clip ends with Craig on the elevator, with Bennett, arm in a cast, making the mistake of trying to apologize to Craig, earning an elbow in the gut for his efforts.

“It’s gonna be a great week,” Craig smiles.

The star’s appearance on SNL was already scheduled before the decision to push the debut of No Time To Die to November, over economic and other concerns regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus.

The Weeknd is the musical guest on this week’s Saturday Night Live, which airs at 11:35 p.m. Eastern on NBC.
