Week 8 Football Preview: #4 OABCIG vs. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows will close out it’s season on Friday as they host Class 2A, #4 OABCIG for senior night. The Falcons enter with a 6-1 record, and Friday is the first time the two schools have ever met on the football field.

OABCIG enters Friday night looking to clinch the 2-seed in District 2, with Southeast Valley already locking up the district title. The Falcons are lead by junior quarterback Beckett DeJean, whose older brother Cooper, lead the Falcons to back-to-back state titles. DeJean has thrown for 1,682 yards and 18 touchdowns, while rushing for 261 yards and 4 touchdowns. Griffin Diersen has been the Falcons outstanding runner, with 621 yards and 4 touchdowns. Easton Harms and Gabe Winterrowd are both nearing the 500-yard receiving mark on the season.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows enters Friday looking to play somewhat of a spoiler role, as they were mathematically knocked out of playoff contention last week. Junior quarterback Preston Gardner has thrown for 897 yards and 8 touchdowns, while rushing for 528 yards and 7 touchdowns. Nevan Foss has rushed for nearly 300 yards on the season, while Jaxon Carpenter and Coady Olson have combined for over 850 yards receiving and 9 touchdowns.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Middle School in Clarion.
