Klaver to run for Iowa House District 55 Representative in June.

It will be a two-way race for the Iowa House of Representative District 55 seat in the June primary. Beau Klaver of Kamrar announced on social media Thursday his intention to run as a Republican candidate for the Iowa House. District 55 includes all of Franklin and Hamilton Counties, southeastern Wright County and the northwest part of Story County. On his campaign social media page, Klaver believes in the future of Iowa agriculture and rural communities and in keeping them strong. He supports Iowa’s next generation, ensuring they have a prosperous future in the state. Klaver said he is running in the election to revitalize the beginning farmer programs with the Iowa Finance Authority. He is also an advocate of the Choose Iowa Program to provide local and healthy food options. Klaver grew up on a small family farm near Kamrar. He attended school in Webster City and pursued a degree in Agricultural Studies from Iowa State University in Ames. Klaver also serves on the Hamilton County Farm Bureau Board.

Klaver will face Brian Young of rural Stratford for the District 55 House seat in the June 2nd primary. Young announced Wednesday his plan to run for the seat. The winner in the June Republican primary will go on to the November general election. Either Klaver or Young will succeed retiring Republican House member Shannon Latham of Sheffield. Latham will be stepping down at the end of the Iowa Legislature this spring. She will become the new executive director for the Iowa FFA Foundation.
