Stratford City Council faces wide range of topics at March 9th meeting.

Representatives of the Beaver Builders Corporation were in attendance at this week’s meeting of the Stratford City Council.  Heidi and Josh Walters met with the council on the proposed plans to develop the Bellville Road property for housing. Beaver Builders is based out of Boone. The construction firm has been responsible for similar housing projects in and around the Boone area. Further action by the crew from Beaver Builders will be discussed by the council at a future meeting. There was an update by Randi Baker and Darcy Runestad of the Stratford Community Development Corporation. The two presented activities for the previous and current year. They also presented the council with a donation request for $3,000 for the 2027 Fiscal Year. The Stratford City Council decided to address the matter at a future meeting. The council also approved the Capital Improvement Plan for Stratford for the 2027 Fiscal Year.

A mowing bid to Terry and Hunter Bryan from Lawn Legends for $600 per cut was accepted by the Stratford City Council for the upcoming mowing season. The approval is contingent on the city receiving a certificate of insurance.

There was a lengthy discussion between the city council and Derrick Anderson concerning his current driveway in Stratford.  There were concerns that changes were made to the driveway that do not meet the City of Stratford’s Code of Ordinances.  Stratford City Council members decided to table the request from Anderson to allow an inspection of the driveway at 1104 Teneyck Avenue.  City council members last Monday voted to table the request from Cayden Heck to trench ground water to a storm sewer drain at the southwest corner of Locust and Highway 175 pending a more specific building permit.

In other matters, the Stratford City Council approved Stratford’s 2026 Tree Removal Plan. A quote for $15,200 from K T and T Landscaping, LLC for an electric line clearance project was approved. The Stratford Elementary Booster Club donation request of a family pool pass for the April 18th,2026 fundraiser carnival and from the Stratford Library for a similar pool pass for a March 22,2o26 silent auction fundraiser were both approved by the council. There are three new members of the Stratford Fire and Rescue Department that the council all approved at this week’s council meeting. They are Peter Amstalden, Shyanne Amstalden and Mindy Hetland. Stratford City Council members voted to allow Oakwood Cemetery to be continued as the City of Stratford Cemetery. An application toward Stratford’s role as a Hometown Pride community will be submitted to organizers.
