JEWELL, Ia. — South Hamilton football has found its new leader headed into the 2026 season, as Cole Billerbeck was named the new head football coach at Monday night’s (3/10) school board meeting.
Billerbeck, a 2008 graduate of Roland-Story and played for Hall of Fame Coach Kerry Van Winkle, has been a member of the South Hamilton coaching staff since 2023, spending his prior years as an assistant coach at 8-Player Collins-Maxwell in southeastern Story County.
Billerbeck takes over for outgoing coach Paul Skartvedt, who led the Hawks from 2022 to 2025 with a record of 22-17 with 2 district titles and 3 playoff appearances, as the Hawks program holds a total record 56-32 record since the 2017 season. South Hamilton will look to bounce back from a 1-8 mark in 2025 this coming fall.
