Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball drops road matchup to West Fork in 6 innings, 11-1

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys baseball team returned to action on Thursday, as they made the drive into Franklin County to take on the West Fork Warhawks in non-conference action at West Fork High School in Sheffield. CGD entered Thursday at 5-4, while West Fork entered at 3-3.

West Fork would jump on the Cowboys early, putting 3 runs in 1st, a run in the 3rd, followed by a 6-run outburst in the 4th to take a 10-0 lead. CGD would extend the game in the 5th on a Jacob Ruba RBI groundout, but a sac fly by the Warhawks in the 6th enforced the 10-run rule as West Fork picked up a 10-0, 6-inning victory.

Ryland Morgan, Chaz Lane and Paxton Lingenfelter would be the only Cowboys to record hits on Thursday, as Jacob Ruba drove in the lone Cowboy run. Ethan Hasty was charged with the loss, allowing 9 runs on 6 hits and striking out 1 in 3.1 innings.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball returns to action on Friday afternoon, when they host the Wayne Bergstrom Classic against Turkey Valley and Aplington-Parkersburg at CGD High School.
