
The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Monday, as they made the drive to Kossuth County to take on the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bears at Bishop Garrigan High School in Algona. Eagle Grove entered at 2-2, while Bishop Garrigan entered at 1-2.
Following a scoreless 1st, Eagle Grove got on the board on a steal of home by Ellie Lenning to put the Eagles up 1-0. Bishop Garrigan got on the board in the 3rd with a run to make it 1-1, before Eagle Grove put 3 runs in the 4th off an Addy Jeske RBI single, a Garrigan error and a Holly Anderson RBI single to make it 4-1. Eagle Grove would then add 4 more runs in the 5th off an Ellie Lenning RBI single, another Garrigan error, Lenning stealing home for the 2nd time and Brenna Grandgeorge scoring on a wild pitch to make it 8-1. Garrigan scratched across 2 runs 5th, before another Eagle run scored on a passed ball in the 6th as Eagle Grove cruised to a 6-4 win.
Ellie Lenning would go 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Addy Jeske went 2-for-3 with an RBI, as Mya Morgan picked up the win by allowing 4 runs on 7 hits and striking out 4.
Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Wednesday, when they host Lake Mills in Top of Iowa West action at Greenwood Park, beginning at 6 PM.
