Eagle Grove, Forest City, GHV set to vote on NCC invitation on Monday

The Eagle Grove, Forest City and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura school boards will host a crucial vote at their school board meetings on Monday night, as all 3 were invited to join the North Central Conference. The move would take effect for the 2026-27 school year, and would allow the conference to create divisions with the 12-team league.

Eagle Grove was one of the original members of the North Central Conference in 1925, along with Algona, Clarion, Hampton, Humboldt and Webster City. The Eagles, along with Bishop Garrigan, left the conference in 2014 for the freshly-minted Top of Iowa Conference.

Forest City has never held membership in the NCC, as the Indians were long-time members of the North Iowa Conference, and its successor in the Top of Iowa Conference, which came as a merger with the Corn Bowl Conference. Garner-Hayfield-Ventura has held an associate membership in the NCC with boys soccer for the last number of years.

If all 3 schools are to vote yes to the invitation, the North Central Conference would separate into two divisions in sports where applicable. The big school-division would be known as the “Tradition Division”, while the small school-division would be known as the “Pride Division”.
