South Hamilton football routed at West Marshall, 56-6

The South Hamilton Hawks football team returned to action on Friday night, as they made the trip east into Marshall County to take on the West Marshall Trojans in non-district action at West Marshall High School. South Hamilton entered at 0-1, while West Marshall also entered at 0-1.

West Marshall wasted little time in putting together a score, as Vincent Clawson found Holden Simms for a 16-yard touchdown pass to open scoring and put the Trojans up 7-0. South Hamilton answered on the ensuing drive as Nick Severseike punched in a 10-yard touchdown run to make it 7-6 after the failed 2-point conversion. West Marshall would strike right back with a 9-yard touchdown run from Michael Lechnir to make it 14-6 Trojans. South Hamilton would be stopped on 4th down on its ensuing drive, as West Marshall scored on the first play on a 33-yard touchdown run by Ben Gonzalez to put the Trojans up 21-6. West Marshall followed by forcing a defensive stop, as Ben Gonzalez finished the next drive with his 2nd touchdown of the night to put the Trojans up 28-6. South Hamilton was stopped on 4th down on its following drive, before Vincent Clawson went up top to Kinnick Geers for a 92-yard touchdown pass to put the Trojans up 35-6, which would be the halftime score.

The Trojans would get the ball out of the halftime break and score on its opening possession of the 2nd half, as Ben Gonzalez scored on a 29-yard touchdown run to put West Marshall up 42-6. The Trojans would add 2 more touchdowns before the end of the night to cap the final at 56-6.

Nick Severseike was the Hawks leading rusher, carrying 10 times for 37 yards and a touchdown, while also catching 3 passes for 56 yards on Friday night. Kolby Hodnefield finished with 36 yards on the ground, while Braden Young was 4-10 for 92 yards and 2 interceptions.

South Hamilton football returns to action on Friday night, as they host Roland-Story for their annual rivalry game at Bill Taylor Field in Jewell with kickoff at 7 PM.
