Wright County Supervisors look at helping county employees stay healthy.

 At a meeting of Monday the Wright County Board of Supervisors reviewed a suggestion from the county wellness committee on the usage of the Wright County Wellness Fitness Center locations in Belmond, Clarion and Eagle Grove for county workers. The suggestion is a way to keep employees healthier and lower the cost of health insurance premiums. Last year premiums were set at $163,000.The county would pay half with the employee to pay the other half at the three county fitness centers. The board is expected to take final action on the proposal at next week's meeting.

There was a meeting with Jan Libby of Healthy Harvest. Libby was requesting $1500 from the supervisors to continue with this program for next fiscal year. Healthy Harvest coordinates projects for residents to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables. Health Harvest operates Farmers Markets in Clarion,Dows,Belmond and Eagle Grove.

The second reading on the Wright County Floodplain Management program was approved with the third reading set for next Monday.The plan would not include a DNR permit for the cleanout of ditches.

There was the approval of Bridge Load Posting for about 200 bridges in Wright County. 119 bridges have been inspected for usage.This year there are plans to replace a bridge on Wright County c-70 near the French Church east of Woolstock.
