Wright County Charitable Foundation awards $45,000 to 15 worth county projects.

The Wright County Charitable Foundation (W.C.C.F.) presented a total of $45,000 in grant awards to 15 non-profit groups in ceremonies held December 11 at the Heartland Museum in Clarion. Foundation President Duane Asbe said this is the 14th granting cycle dating back to 2006. There is traditionally a spring and fall grant cycle each year. To date, the W.C.C.F. had granted more than $540,000 to worthy causes across the county. Nearly $4.8 million worth of projects have benefited from the grants. The grant making committee and the Youth Leadership committee each reviewed the grant applications. After their deliberations $39,000 was awarded by the Grant Committee with the youth adding $6,000 after their review. The Youth Leadership committee is composed of six high school juniors and seniors from across Wright County.All grants were approved by the full W.C.C.F.  board of directors.

The Fall 2012 Wright County grant recipients include:

Rowan's Lions Club for Iscreen Vision for KidSight for early detection of vision problems with the grant totaling $3,100.

Kenneth Banks VFW Post 642 of Eagle Grove for making the building handicapped accessible.The grant for this project was $500.

Heartland Museum of Clarion for new tables and chairs. The grant amounted to $3,000.

Belmond Historical Society for steel storage shelving amounting to $700.

Rotary Club of Eagle Grove Home, Incorporated for a roof project amounting to $4,000.

Eagle Grove Chamber of Commerce for the Chamber Lemonade Stand with the grant total at $3,000.

Dows Historical Society for work on the Mercantile Upper Windows. The total amount of the grant was $3,000

Eagle Grove Historical Society for the Carnegie Library renovation to the front entry. The grant was at $5,000.

Belmond Area Arts Council for barn reroofing project at the Meacham Arts Center with the grant totaling $4,500.

Eagle Grove Memorial Library for the digitization fo the Eagle Grove and Goldfield newspapers at $2,000.

Belmond Trees Forever for the trail extension project in the Belmond community. The grant totals $$3,500.

Belmond Parks Board for trail repairs totaling $3,300.

Wright County Economic Development for the Entrepreneur 4 a Day program in the schools amounting to $1,400.

Eagle Grove EMS for an ambulance lift totaling $5,000.

Eagle Grove FBLA for a new concession stand and restroom at the football field totaling $3,500.

There were 15 applications in this grant cycle. Each grant applicant is required to match a portion of the funds necessary to complete the project.Volunteer labor hours can also be added to the funds and hours needed to completed each project.
