Webster County authorities investigating a homicide near Otho.

Webster County authorities are investigating the report of the body of an unidentified white adult male discovered late Wednesday afternoon. The Webster County Sheriff's Department said the body was found in a roadside ditch in the 2500 block of Madison Avenue near Otho. Webster County Medical Examiner Dr. Dan Cole was contacted and the remains were sent to the Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office for identification and the cause of death. As of late Thursday afternoon, authorities say the manner of death has been ruled a homicide. Investigators are approaching the investigation accordingly and consider the circumstances suspicious. The Webster and Hamilton County Sheriff's Departments, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Fort Dodge Police and the Iowa State Patrol are investigating the incident.
