Posted: Jan 02 2013 by ppowers

The Hamilton County Crime Stoppers announced Wednesday that Webster City Federal Savings Bank will sponsor the TipSoft program in 2013. The Hamilton County Crime Stoppers is a program that involves the public, the media, and law enforcement in the fight against crime. It offers cash rewards for persons who furnish information that leads to the arrest and filing of criminal charges against offenders and to the capture of fugitives.  Tips received through the Tip Soft program are routed to Canada where they are legally scrubbed of the source's identity before they are then sent to proper local law enforcement. There are four easy ways to report a crime while remaining completely anonymous. You can call the local tip line at 515-832-8473. There is also a toll free phone number for tips which is 1-800-873-8477. You can also go online to www.hcstopcrime.com and complete a short form. You can also text the crime tip to 274637 then type keyword IA40 before the message is typed. The Hamilton County Crime Stoppers recently launched a new website (www.hcstopcrime.com) that provides an improved online visitor  experience. In addition, the site contains information on tip submission along with quick links to download Android and iPhone TipSoft apps and features the Hamilton County Crime Stoppers  "Most Wanted" poster. Hamilton County Crime Stoppers is a not-for-profit organization. It is funded by private donations and annual fund raising events. There are no tax dollars involved. A community board of directors made up of persons throughout the area, meets on a monthly basis to evaluate arrests and to decide on the size of rewards to be paid up to $1,000. The reward money is obtained through fund raising and donations from citizens and businesses. Reward tips are paid out based on the severity of the crime. Donations received are tax deductible.
