Webster City Community Theater addition project continues.
Posted: Feb 15 2013 by ppowers

Progress on the addition to the Webster City Community Theater is continuing. The exterior siding and landscaping will be added when warmer weather arrives. Inside the walls have been insulated and the drywall has been installed but not yet finished. Plumbing and electrical work is nearing completion with work on the heating and air conditioning to begin soon. The work will be temporarily slowed due to the production of "Sleeping Indoors" February 15 through 24. The much anticipated new theater seating has been installed and the inaugural audiences are sure to enjoy their comfort. The Webster City Community Theater family is excited about the transformations that are taking place. Audience members will be invited to view the progress when they tour the addition following each performance. As is the case with many construction projects, actual costs often exceed original estimates. Several factors have combined to push costs up about $40,000. The group had planned to have the Building and Trades class do much of the interior work. However, the course was not offered due to low enrollment and lack of an instructor. A delayed start to construction resulted in march of the construction being done throughout the fall and winter. Unanticipated plumbing issues and compliance to building codes related to joining new construction to existing construction have driven costs higher than anticipated. In order to complete the three level 6,000 square foot addition in a timely fashion, the Webster City Community Theater Board has determined that an additional $40,000 must be raised. If you would like to make your contribution, please send your monetary gift to the Webster City Community Theater, P.O.Box 272 in Webster City,Iowa  50595. You may also drop off your contribution at the box office weekday evenings from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 until 12:00 noon. Volunteers are now working to complete the project. Dozens of workers have already spent hundreds of hours volunteering. Anyone interested in lending a hand should contact Al Yungclas or Angela Rottering.
