Stratford School Board reviews end of the year activities and building projects.

 The school year in Stratford is beginning to wind down. The Stratford school board Wednesday evening looked at a few of the activities lined up to end the academic year in a few weeks. The events include the school Olympics on May 30, sixth grade recognition program on May 31 and the Stratford's Got Talent event on June 3.Classes in the Stratford school district will end for the year on June 4th.

Superintendent Sarah Binder reviewed with the board on the projects that will involve the school building and grounds in the next few weeks. The roof project has been worked on the new Early Learning Center. The paint project at the Stratford school gym will begin June 10. The grading and surfacing work on the school parking lot will begin  in July with the final surfacing work to begin in August.

The board approved the hiring of Erica Johnson as a new vocal music teacher beginning with the 2013-14 school year.

In other matters the Stratford school board on Wednesday evening learned that the recent health inspection of the school building passd with flying colors by state health officials. Superintendent Binder informed the board that several surrounding school districts toured the Stratford school to learn about the co-teaching program that is proven to be a success over the past few years. The board also learned from Binder that the Stratford school district has applied for Paramount School Status. It won't be until fall on whether or not the district will be eligible for the program.
