Stratford School Board looks at building improvement projects

Building improvements at Stratford Elementary was a topic of discussion at Wednesday evening's meeting of the Stratford school board. Superintendent Sarah Binder said the work will include the painting of the school gym. Casey's Custom Colors of Rockwell City submitted a bid of $4,939. The firm would use the school colors for painting the walls of the gym. The Stratford Indian mascot would continue to be featured on the gym wall as has for many years. CEC Electrical of Badger presented a bid for replacing the gym lights with a bid of $23,465. A bid was received from Northeast Stage in the amount of $12,810 for providing a backdrop and curtain for the stage area. Superintendent Binder said there has been talk of painting the school gym for the past five years. There would also be work on repairing the storage doors and tracks inside the gym The gym improvement project would be funded by either the Physical Plant Equipment Levy or Capital Improvement funds. Superintendent Binder informed the board that the Enhance Hamilton County Foundation grant process has changed thus the school will not be able to submit a grant for this year.The Stratford School Board will make a decision on the bids at a future board meeting for the school gym
