The Northeast Hamilton Community School Board Thursday night met with the members of the Northeast Hamilton Education Association as they presented their opening proposal for the 2013-14 school year contract. The association proposed an initial total package of $70,491 or a 6.60% increase. Board members will come back with their counter proposal on either January 18 and or 21.
Plans for this year's Prom at Northeast Hamilton was presented by junior class member Tyler Smith. This year's theme is "Big City,Bright Lights" on Saturday, April 27th. Smith told the board that the meal will be tentative held at a restaurant in Fort Dodge or in Ames.
A rough draft of the 2013-14 school calendar was discussed at the meeting. Northeast Hamilton is working closely with Webster City to align professional development days and schedules. Beth Heller met with the board regarding staff concerns with the proposed calendar. The board is considering the suggested ideas.
There was a look ahead to this year's summer and fall sports programs at Northeast Hamilton. The board reviewed potential participation numbers to ensure there are enough students to participate for the season. The issue will be discussed at next month's board meeting. In one other matter, the board discusseed the district's safety procedures for disasters and emergencies.The school will run drills periodically so that all staff and students are aware of what to do if a situation should arise.
Friday,May 31st has been tentatively set for the final day of classes at Northeast Hamilton barring any further snow make up dates. Northeast Hamilton cancelled classes on December 20 and 21 due to the weather conditions.
