At their meeting on Monday night, the Northeast Hamilton Community School Board reviewed last Thursday's community meeting on the 2013 Fall and Summer sports participant numbers in the district. Superintendent Pat Hocking said over 60 community residents attended the meeting as they looked at the future of the athletic program at Northeast Hamilton. Hocking said the meeting produced good discussion and accomplished of communicating with everyone to be aware of the situation facing the school district. At this point, the Northeast Hamilton district will keep moving forward as normal but it was made very clear that everyone needs to do their part to ensure that extra-curricular activities continue at Northeast Hamilton.
Northeast Hamilton board members directed superintendent Pat Hocking to pursue the following Physical Plant and Equipment Levy projects. The projects include the implementation of iPads for Kindergarten through 12, a new school bus, plan for a bus barn project, purchase a new school copier and make repairs to the track to be used for practice and to the baseball field fences.
Superintendent Hocking and Susie Fiscus presented a preliminary budget proposal for the 2013-14 school year. The proposed tax rate was $10.64. This is a decrease of 86 cents from last year, The board set April 11 as the date for the public hearing to approve the 2013-14 school year budget.
April 17th was set as the date to celebrate 50 years of the Northeast Hamilton school district. The date will be the Very Important Person Day at Northeast Hamilton with special activities set for the day.
Officials with NEW Cooperative have approached superintendent Pat Hocking and board member Randy Greenfield about wanting to purchase the school bus barn.The board directed superintendent Hocking to pursue this option and meet with NEW Co-op officials.
Driver's education fees were set at $255 per student and $200 for the instructor at Northeast Hamilton. Jeff Meyer was appointed as Play Director.
