Northeast Hamilton school board looks at enrollment for 2012-13.

The Northeast Hamilton school board Tuesday evening discussed the district's certified enrollment for the current school year. With the upcoming deadline for certified enrollment coming, Superintendent Pat Hocking said it appears that the district will be very close to the certified count of 229 students from last year. Hocking pointed out that the number is down 20 plus students served in the district. With the changes and reductions made from last year the administration and board will continually monitor the budget to ensure district financial responsibility for Northeast Hamilton.

A group of parents addressed the Northeast Hamilton school board with school bus route concerns. The parents offered different ideas for the Williams bus route including running the bus route backwards at night and offering another bus route. The board is taking this issue under consideration.

In personnel matters, the Northeast Hamilton board accepted a contract for Kacey Pruismann for varsity girls track coach for next spring. John Seiser will be coaching junior high football for this season. There were four salary lane changes for the school year approved for Leslie Keehn, Jenny Pruismann, Jill Bosch and Josh Vanderloop.

The school board went on to accept a 28-E agreement with the Prairie Lake A.E.A. for additional technology support for a total of $3780 for the school year. The services are for 3 hours a week for the rest of the school year. Joe Wakeman is still the head technology person for Northeast Hamilton. He will perform all the confidential and important work on the system.

Board members Kim Schaa and Roxanne Anderson were named to serve on the school board negotiating team for a series of negotiation meetings set for later this year.

In another matter, the Northeast Hamilton school board approved the General Fund pay off of the $8,000 loan that the Hot Lunch Fund owed the PPEL (Physical Plant Equipment Levy)  Fund.The board discussed the Hot Lunch program in general. The fund will be monitored with continued discussion at upcoming board meetings.

The board discussed a report from the Iowa Star Conference has been approached about Lutheran Valley joining the conference. The conference schools are in favor of exploring the option to letting them  join the Iowa Star Conference but there are still a lot of things that need to be worked out. Board members also will work outside contracting to assist with snow removal on an as needed basis for this winter.
