Robert Mason is now the Chief Executive Officer for Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City. At a meeting held Wednesday morning, Mason was named by the Van Diest Medical Center board to the C.E.O. position after serving on an interim basis since last November when Palmer Schneider retired after 33 years of service. Mason has 24 years of executive level experience including all phases of health care management.Prior to coming to Webster City,Mason helped establish the Mercy Family Care Network as the premier primary care network in north central Iowa headquartered in Mason City,establish the position of Executive Medical Director and Executive Committee of the Mercy Family Care Network and recruited 37 physicians, six mid level providers and six office managers. Mason served as a member of the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa Senior Leadership Team. He also acted as board liaison to several of the regional hospitals managed by Mercy.
In other matters at the special board meeting, Carroll Ose was appointed as Van Diest Medical Center as board chairman for the rest of 2013.The Van Diest Medical Center board also accepted the resignations of three members including Don Bottorff,John Hemingway and Stephen Mourlam. Chairman Ose thanked the three for their previous years of service. The resignations were in response due to the management change late last year.
The slate of officers for 2013 were approved. Carroll Ose named as chairman, Myra Maxon as vice-chairman, Hank Witt as secretary and Nancy Dermand as treasurer.
