Main Street Iowa visitors in Hamilton County

The Hamilton County S.E.E.D. office welcomed  Michael Wagler and Thom Guzman with the Iowa Economic Development Authority's Main Street Program at a two day program visit. This is the annual visit by officials to get a perspective into how the Main Street concept is working in the communities of Ellsworth,Jewell and Stratford.  Both Wagler and Guzman met with economic development officials in all three communities on Tuesday afternoon reviewing the past year in regards to Main Street project. Since its inception 20 years ago there has been a net gain of 91 new businesses, 69 n new jobs,256 building rehabilitation projects, $4,918.520 in private dollars invested in to participating downtown districts and 85,858 documented volunteer hours. In these challenging economic times,there has been continued positive impact in each of the three communities and passionate involvement. The Main Street officials stressed to help support the vision of Main Street in their respective communities, create a marketing plan,and a resolution of support from each city council.
