At a meeting Tuesday night, the Kendall Young Library board looked at plans for a community survey this January. Director Angie Martin Schwarze said the survey will be posted on the Kendall Young Library website. It will also be mailed to the utility customers in Webster City. The survey will focus on what patrons would like to see in services,what they like and don't like about the library,resources at the library and more. Questions are expected to be finalized next month for the board to review. There will be an incentive for patrons to take part in the survey. The incentive is two 50 dollar gift cards.
The Kendall Young Library board looked at the 2013 budget. There was no action taken on the figures with the discussion to continue at next month's board session.
In another matter the Kendall Young Library board looked at the issue of allowing the renewal of library materials. Director Martin Schwarze told the board that she has done research on libraries with the similar size of Kendall Young Library with the renewal of materials. She told the board that of the libraries she has researched, Kendall Young Library does not offer renewals.There was no policy set Tuesday night but the issue will be revisited at a future board session.
Director Martin Schwarze said the library will have a tree on display in this weekend's Festival of Trees and Tablescapes at the Bridge. The event is being sponsored by All Cultures Equal as a fund raiser for their program.
