Icy going in north central Iowa today!
Posted: Jan 27 2013 by ppowers

North central Iowans are spending this Sunday in the safe confines of their homes as the result of freezing rain and sleet that started at about 5 o'clock. Many area churches in the KQWC listening canceled worship services and Sunday School activities due to the weather conditions. The Festival of Chocolate at Kendall Young Library in Webster City has been postponed until next Sunday, February 3 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY has been issued until 3:00 Sunday afternoon for Hamilton, Webster, Boone and Story Counties while a WINTER STORM WARNING is in effect until 12 midnight Sunday night for Wright, Franklin and Hardin Counties. The freezing rain of this morning should gradually change over to light rain this afternoon with highs in the mid 30s which should help melt off the ice on  the streets and highways. Tonight temperatures should be in the low 30s with another chance of light rain, fog, and periods of light freezing rain. Cloudy skies are expected for Monday with highs in the low 40s.
