Hamilton County sees slight increase in unemployment rate.

 Hamilton County experienced a slight increase in the unemployment rate for the month of August. The Iowa Workforce Development office reported Tuesday the rate was at 5.7 percent, up from the July rate of 5.6 percent. There were 6,420 residents who were employed during the month while 390 people were without work. Iowa's unemployment rate for August was at 4.9 percent up from the July figure of 4.8 percent. The unemployment rate for surrounding counties last month included Boone County at 3.9 percent, Franklin and Wright Counties at 4.3 percent, Hardin County at 4.7 percent, Story County at 4 percent, and Webster County at 5.8 percent.
