Hamilton County sees an increase in unemployment rate.

 Hamilton County witnessed an increase in its unemployment for January. The Iowa Workforce Development office reported Monday the rate for January was at 6.5 percent up from the December figure of 5.3 percent. The rate translates to 6,080 people employed while 420 were without work in the county.Iowa's unemployment rate for January was 4.3 percent up from the December rate of 4.2 percent. The January unemployment rate for surrounding counties included Boone at 4.2 percent, Franklin at 5.6 percent, Hardin at 6.0 percent, Story at 3.7 percent, Webster at 6.2 percent and Wright at 6.4 percent.
