Hamilton County Conservation Board review bids for county park cabin project.

 At a meeting Thursday morning the Hamilton County Conservation Board opened the sealed bids for the construction of new cabin facilities at each of the three parks in the county. Bids came in from Peterson Construction of Webster City for Briggs Woods, Bells Mill and Little Wall Lake parks and from Dave Scott Construction of Granger to construct a cabin at Little Wall Park only. The bid from Peterson Construction for two cabins at Little Wall Lake amounted to $373,300 and from Scott Construction at Little Wall Lake at $252,881. Peterson Construction had a bid for $367,300 to construct two cabins at Briggs Woods Park.Another bid from Peterson Construction to build a cabin at Bells Mill Park came in at $159,300. The conservation board spent a considerable amount of time discussing the bids received. There was no action taken. The board will meet in special session this Tuesday,April 2  at 9:30 a.m.to either approve or reject the bids received.

The conservation board approved the 28-E agreement for the JewEllsworth trail project. The recreational trail will link the two communities of Ellsworth and Jewell. Conservation director Brian Lammers informed the board tha the agreement was reviewed  by the Hamilton County attorney plus the attorneys for the cities of Ellsworth and Jewell.Conservation director Brian Lammers will meet with the city council members of Jewell and Ellsworth on Monday, April 8 on the trail project. No date has been set for the ground breaking event.

In another matter the Hamilton County Conservation Board on Thursday received a grant from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for the Water Trails Crew Assistance program. The program is ramp access improvements to the Allbright and Tunnel Mill canoe facilities. 

The Hamilton County Conservation Department will put out bids for the roofing project at the main conservation building in Briggs Woods Park and for the Briggs Woods Club House.Bids will be open at the next meeting on April 25th at 10:00a.m.
