The Hamilton County Sheriff's Department investigated two  motor vehicle accidents on Friday morning....

A car pickup accident happened three miles south of Webster City on Highway 17 shortly after 6:00. Reportedly a northbound 1996 Ford F-150 pickup truck operated by Cameron L. Newman of Webster City crossed the center line  after the driver apparently fell asleep or passed out at the wheel. The Newman truck struck the driver's side of a southbound 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Steven Macrunnel also of Webster City.The impact sent the Macrunnel car to spin around and coming to rest on the south shoulder of the highway while the Newman pickup landed in the west ditch. Both drivers escaped injury. Damage to the Newman pickup was estimated at $2500 with the damage to the Macrunnel car was estimated at $3500. Investigating deputy Scott McConnell cited Cameron Newman with Operating While Intoxicated, Failure to Maintain Control, Driving Left of Center and Violation of the Condition of a Restricted License.

 

Shortly before 9:00 another car pickup accident was reported. It happened a half mile south of Blairsburg on Highway 69 and County road D-25.Reportedly a southbound 2007 Chevrolet Impala driven by Herman Eckhoff of Kanawha was turning left to continue south on 69 when he failed to stop at the stop sign.The Eckhoff car was then struck by a northbound 2012 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Stephen Chamness of Blairsburg who was making a left turn at the time. No injuries were reported. Damage to both the Chamness truck and Eckhoff car was estimated at $5000 each. Investigating deputy Paul Whitmore cited Herman Eckhoff with a Stop Sign Violation.
