Four lane U.S. 20 to Open in Sac and Calhoun Counties November 21

Newly constructed four lane U.S. Highway 20 in Sac and Calhoun Counties will open Wednesday,November 21. The U.S. 20 Association, working in cooperation with the Iowa Department of Transportation will hold a Grand Opening Celebration and Dedication marking the occasion at 10:00a.m. on November 21. Honored guests at the event will be Governor Terry E. Branstad, Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds, Congressman Steve King, Iowa DOT Director Paul Trombino as well as members of the U.S. 20 Association. The latest stretch of US 20 will be open in time for Thanksgiving travel. To participate in the events, guests are instructed to come from the west on the east bound lanes of four-lane 20 at the interchange with US 71 north of Early. Approximately 1.5 miles east of US 71, motorists will see a truck turnout area. There will be signs and personnel to direct traffic and park vehicles. Carpooling is encouraged. Following the ceremony on the new highway,the Association invites guests to a reception being held in Early at the United Methodist Church at 402 Hickory Street.  In the meantime, acquisition for expansion of US 20 in Woodbury County between Moville and Correctionville is underway. The goal is to begin grading on this final 30 mile segment in the near future.
