December and 2012 Weather in Review for Webster City.

The month of December in Webster City was a month of above normal temperatures and near normal precipitation. Records at the Radio Hill Weather Reporting Station showed the average high for December at 36 degrees and the average low at 16 degrees. We received a grand total of five inches of snow along with 1.03 inches of rain and or moisture content for the entire month. The first bilzzard of the 2012-13 winter season occured December 19 and 20 causing white out conditions and the cancellation of school. The warmest day for December was on December 3rd when the temperature hit 66 degrees which was a new record for the date. The old record was 62 degrees set on December 3,1952. The lowest recorded temperature for December was 4 degrees below zero set on December 25 and 30.

The National Weather Service outlook for January in Iowa promises equal chances for both precipitation and temperatures. Last January the average high in Webster City was 35 degrees and the average low was 14 degrees. Webster City received six inches of snow last January with 64 hundredths of rain and or moisture content.

As for all of 2012, Webster City received a grand total of 25.23 inches of rain with 15 inches of snow. The hottest day for all of 2012 was 102 degrees on July 23rd. There were 39 days last year when the mercury was at or above 90 degrees. The coldest day in 2012 was on January 21,2012 when the mercury hit 15 degrees below zero.
