Dayton Clinic to close.
Posted: Mar 20 2014 by ppowers

The Van Diest Medical Center Board of Trustees voted to close the Dayton Clinic. The decision was made to close it after a closed door meeting Tuesday night. The clinic opened last summer. The main concern is that the clinic was facing a projected annual loss of $70,000. The loss was because there had been no substantial growth in the combined inpatient and outpatient services at Van Diest Medical Center from Dayton since the clinic had opened. Information also showed that the patients from Dayton were going to Fort Dodge or Ames for medical services.  At their meeting on Tuesday, the Van Diest Medical Center board heard from Dayton Mayor Richard Travis and Council member Beth Wickwire stating that the community pledged their support to keep the clinic open. The Van Diest Medical Center board decided that they will give the clinic a 90 day window before the doors are closed. If there were any changes in patient from Dayton using Van Diest Medical Center for medical services then the board could revisit the closing of the Dayton Clinic facility.
