Clarion City Council highlights

 At a meeting earlier this week, the Clarion City Council  set the date of April 15 at 5:30p.m. for a public hearing on the sale of public property for a proposed residential development in the community. April 15 was set for another public hearing in regards to the zoning regulations by deleting various requirements and adopting new requirements for the ordinance in regards to Clarion's Floodplain Overlay District.The council approved a draft ambulance lease agreement with Iowa Specialty Hospital and the City of Clarion. The agreement will be submitted to the Iowa Specialty Hospital board for their review. A request was approved by the council from the American Legion Riders to have a bike show in the city parking lot in the 100 block of South Main on Saturday,June 8 from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. The council also learned that Clarion Librarian Nola Waddingham will be retiring at the end of June. The Clarion library board will begin the search for her replacement. City administrator Rochelle Pohlman said that Waddingham has been a delight to work with and wishes her the best in her retirement.
