Chansler pleads not guilty to assault charge.

 The Fort Dodge Police Officer who is accused of assaulting his wife on Tuesday has pleaded not guilty to the charge filed against him. 41 year old Jody Chansler made his plea Wednesday in Webster County Magistrate Court. A trial for Chansler has been set for September 4. Webster County Magistrate William Habhab allowed Chansler to be released on his own recognizance and issued a no contact order between Chansler and his wife. Habhab also ordered Chansler to surrender all of his guns including any he might use as a police officer to the Webster County Sheriff's Department. Chansler was placed Tuesday on paid administrative leave after the allegation was first reported.He is a 12 year veteran of the Fort Dodge Police Department. Chansler is also the subject of an internal investigation being conducted by the Fort Dodge Police Department. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation was called to help out in the investigation. A charge of domestic abuse assault was filed against Jody Chansler. His wife was transported to Trinity Regional Medical Center early Tuesday and released after being treated for minor injuries.
