A Reinbeck,Iowa construction firm submitted the low bids for two projects in Hamilton County. Peterson Contractors,Incorporated submitted a low bid of $487,121 for the work on three culverts in Blairsburg Township. Hamilton County Engineer Dan Wade said there were four bids received for the culvert project. The bid approved was eight percent below the engineer's estimate. Work on the culvert project is expected to begin in the next few weeks. The other bid from Peterson Contractors was for the grading and paving work on 230th Street and Estes Avenue located west of Webster City. The total amount of the bid was at $947,813 which was about the same cost as the engineer's estimate. The work is part of the Van Diest Urban Renewal project.
In another contract approved, the Hamilton County Supervisors approved the Iowa Department of Transportation C-STEP for a right turn lane on Highway 17 south of Highview to near 230th Street. Hamilton County Engineer Dan Waid the costs will be split 55 percent from the state and 45 percent from Hamilton County. The estimated amount is at $33,250 from the state.
A software subscription and support renewal for IBM was accepted by the Hamilton County Supervisors. The contract was for $1,683 with the software to be used in the county recorder's office.
The Hamilton County Supervisors approved a resolution for a bond purchasing agreement in the amount of $1,350,000 for the hard surfacing project at Estes Avenue and 230th Street for the expansion project at Van Diest Supply Company.
