Ames woman charged with arson after church fire Tuesday night.

A 51 year old Ames woman has been arrested after allegedly setting a fire at an Ames church Tuesday night.Tina Meyer was charged with first degree arson after a fire at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church at 2210 Lincoln Way. Ames firemen responded to the fire at about 9:30 p.m. When firemen arrived,they could see flames through the window on the second story. The entire building was filled with smoke. The fire was quickly extinguished with the building ventilated. Meyer was transported to the Story County Jail in Nevada after she was arrested.There has been no dollar estimate due to the damage. There were at least 30 people inside the church at the time Tuesday night but all escaped safely.
