Academy for the Arts Festival is coming to Webster City in October.

The Randall Area Fine Arts Council has announced that Webster City will serve as the location for the first annual "Academy for the Arts Festival" set for October 4 through 6 at Prem Sahai Auditorium.This is the first year for the festival which is the successor to twenty five successful years of "Ragtime in Randall". The festival will feature Reginald Robinson. He has composed  music for multiple plays and independent films and has performed as a guest artist with ensembles  such as the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic and the Chicago Sinfonietta. Brian Keenan is a composer and performer of ragtime and related music of the past and present. Keenan has been a featured performer at the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival in Sedalia,Missouri, the Rocky Mountain Festival in Colorado, West Coast Ragtime Festival, Lake Superior Ragtime Festival and at Ragtime in Randall.  Jane Cox will be a part of the weekend festivities. Cox is Director of Theatre at Iowa State University in Ames. She has been involved with over 350 productions as an actress, designer or director. She has written 12 one woman shows, which have been performed in 25 states. Last spring,Cox presented her one woman show entitled The Promised Land at the Webster City Community Theater. On October 5, she will present her one woman show of Eleanor Roosevelt at 3:00 p.m. You can find out more about the festival at www.ragtimeinrandall.org
