Roland-Story girls golf wins Class 2A, Region 3A tournament

The Roland-Story Norse girls golf team made the trip west on Friday morning, to compete in the Class 2A, Region 3A tournament at Jefferson Community Golf Course in Jefferson. Foes included the host Greene County Rams, Carroll Kuemper, Southeast Valley, East Sac County, MVAOCOU, South Central Calhoun and OABCIG.

Roland-Story made it known quickly that they were the team to beat, and showcased it as they took home a dominating win in the regional tournament. Sophomore Makenna Carlson was the individual champion with a score of 83 (+11), while senior Ellie Erickson was 2nd with a score of 87 (+15). Senior Mersadie Franklin and sophomore Gabriella Wakefield were tied for 3rd with a score of 93, as sophomores Abby Cook and Grace Corcoran rounded out the lineup with scores of 100 and 105, respectively.

The Norse advance along with 2nd place-finishers MVAOCOU to the Region 3 final at Nishna Golf Course in Atlantic, which will be hosted by Treynor on Wednesday.
