Former Southeast Valley choir director pleads not guilty to sexual exploitation charge.

A former Southeast Valley High School choir director has pleaded not guilty to a charge of sexual exploitation by a school employee. 29 year old Brandon Edward Louis entered a second plea of not guilty in Webster County District Court on Monday. Louis initially waived a preliminary hearing and formal arraignment and entered a not guilty plea on December 7. On Tuesday, District Court Judge Angela Doyle scheduled an arraignment for Louis. Through his defense attorney, Louis filed a written arraignment and plea of not guilty on Monday, waiving his right to a speedy trial. The trial for Louis is scheduled for April 5 in Webster County District Court in Fort Dodge. Louis resigned as choir director for Southeast Valley in October,2020 after allegations  of inappropriate and sexual text messages sent by him to several female students came to light. After a yearlong investigation by authorities.Gowrie Police Chief Patrick Monaghan announced that Louis had been arrested on November 21,2021. If convicted, Louis faces up to five years and a fine up to $7,500. He would also be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years.
