Webster City wrestling splits triangular with Humboldt and Iowa Falls-Alden

The Webster City wrestling team hosted their home finale for the regular season on Thursday night, as they hosted the Humboldt Wildcats and the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets in a North Central Conference triangular. Humboldt entered tied for 2nd in the team dual standings with the Lynx, Algona and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows. Iowa Falls-Alden entered with no dual wins in conference action.

The Lynx would face off with Humboldt first, beginning at 106, where Cyler Cirks picked up a tech fall over Addison Scott. The duo of Carson Doolittle and Cam Phetxoumphone picked up falls at 113 and 120 before the Wildcats reeled off 6 straight wins, including 3 falls, to take a 33-12 lead before Evan Estlund picked up a fall at 170 pounds. The two sides would split the final 4 matches as Humboldt pulled out a 39-28 win.

Webster City would wrap up with Iowa Falls-Alden, as the Lynx won all but two matches. Luke Estlund, Austin Mason, Evan Estlund and Jaxon Cherry would all pick up falls in their weight classes, while Cam Phextoumphone and Jordan Vankham picked up tech falls, as Iowa Falls-Alden also had 4 forfeits. The final stood with Webster City picking up a dominant 67-9 win.

The Lynx are scheduled to be back in action on Saturday, when they participate in the Perry Invitational at Perry High School.
