Webster City girls fall short in conference opener to Humboldt, 43-25

The Webster City girls entered Friday’s matchup against Humboldt still in search of win #1 on the 2021-22 season. The wait would have to last a little while longer as the Humboldt took home a 43-25 victory of the Lynx at Webster City High School.

After the 1st quarter, it looked as if the contest would be neck-and-neck the whole way through, with Humboldt ahead 14-11 after one quarter of play. However, the stifling full court press of the Wildcats didn’t allow a single point in the 2nd quarter, with Humboldt going to the locker room with a 24-11 lead. The Lynx would not have enough offense to get over the hump in the 2nd half.

Morgan Mann led all scorers in the game for Humboldt, as the star freshman scored 17 points. Livia Kasch led Webster City with 8 points on Friday night, while senior guard Kelly Stoakes finished with 7 points.

Next action for the Webster City girls will be on Tuesday night, when they travel to Rockwell City to take on Class 2A #11 South Central Calhoun at 6 PM.
