Christmas in the City is set for Saturday,December 4th.

From a parade to a light display  to music, Webster City will offer something for everyone this Saturday. Christmas in the City is a daylong event sponsored by the city of Webster City, Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce and Karl Chevrolet of Webster City. Last year’s event was canceled due to COVID concerns.

The day starts off with Breakfast with Santa at Hy-Vee from 9:00 until 11:00 with the Jolly Old Gent and Mrs. Claus. A Holiday Open House will be held at the Jane Young House from 10:00 until 2:00 p.m. with visitors touring the historic residence decorated for the holiday season.A few of the highlights of the open house will include the vintage clothing display, Styles of the 1970s, Christmas in Grandmas’ Kitchen and more.  A free will donation to tour the home will be most welcome. The Webster Theater will show the movie “Elf” at 1:00 p.m.. Free tickets will be available at the chamber office. The Candy Cane Hike will be held from 1 until 2 p.m. at the Briggs Woods Park Shelter 2 sponsored by Hamilton County Conservation.

Webster City’s American Legion Post 191  invites you their chili and cinnamon roll dinner from 3:30 until 6:00 p.m. at the Legion Hall on Second Street. You may dine in or take advantage of the carry out.. A free will donation will be accepted.

The evening will feature the Lighted Christmas Parade through the downtown area beginning at 5:00 p.m. The parade will form at Seneca and Bank Streets traveling north on Seneca, turning west on to Second and ending at Prospect Street. The tree lighting ceremony is set for 6:00 at Availa Bank Plaza.  The Webster City Community Chorus will present the first of two concerts at Trinity Lutheran Church. “Coming Together at Christmas” will be presented at 7:00 p.m.  and the second concert at 2:00 Sunday afternoon. A free will donation will be taken. Those attending are asked to wear their facial coverings at the concerts. The day will conclude with the Holiday Light Display at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds from 7 until 10 p.m.

A Pioneer Christmas will be held at Wilson Brewer Park  on Saturday. The celebration will begin with Photos with Santa from 11:00 until 1:00 p.m. Tours of the log cabins,the school, Mulberry Center Church and caboose will be from 11:00 until 4:00 p.m.  There will be Crafts for Kids also from 11:00 until 4:00 p.m. The Webster City Community Theater will present their reading of “A Christmas Carol” at 3:00  in the park followed by Christmas caroling with the Webster City high school singers at 3:30.  Other highlights of the day at Wilson Brewer Park will be the luminary walk and astronomy hike by Hamilton County Conservation starting at 6:00. The tree presentation and light display will start at 6:15 p.m.

In addition, Phil & Tracy Grossmann and their family will be in attendance at the Jameson Cabin speaking about the process of dismantling and rebuilding the Jameson and Wilson Brewer/Jackson Groves log cabins. They will also be discussing what life was like in the mid-1800s.
