Clarion-Goldfield-Dows faces #7 Unity Christian in regional final

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows volleyball team will travel to Storm Lake on Tuesday night to face the Knights of Unity Christian, ranked #7 in Class 3A, in Class 3A, Region 6 Championship action. The Knights enter with a 27-4 record after rolling through Pocahontas Area and Greene County.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows enters Tuesday after taking down Hampton-Dumont-CAL and Iowa Falls-Alden in the first two rounds of regional. Lexie Lane continues to lead the way for the Cowgirls, with 310 kills on the season. CGD’s two-setter system of Indy Johnson and Sydney Friesleben has excelled in the postseason, while the return of Clarissa Hasty gives the Cowgirls offense another attacker.

Unity Christian enters Tuesday lead by the play of hitter Grace Schoonhoven and setter Emma Byker. Schoonhoven leads the Knights in kills with 277, while Byker is 14th in 3A in assists with 658. Tyra Schuiteman, Jenna Bouma and Dacey Driesen have all crossed the 100 kill mark on the season, while Bouma and Schutieman are 1-2 on the team in blocks.

First serve is schedule for 7 PM at Storm Lake High School. 95.7 KQWC will carry a live broadcast of the match.
