South Hamilton falls short against South Central Calhoun, 18-14

South Hamilton looked to bounce back from a heart-breaking loss against Woodward-Granger in Week 5, with a big win over the Titans of South Central Calhoun. The Titans came in atop the district with a 4-1 record on the season.

Defense and ball control was the story of the game, as both teams struggled to get many big plays offensively. South Central Calhoun got on the scoreboard first off a quarterback sneak from Gavin Batta to put the Titans up 6-0. South Hamilton would answer with a 1-yard touchdown run by fullback Austin Busch, to put the Hawks ahead 8-6 after the two-point conversion. South Central Calhoun responded before the end of the half as Blake McAlister broke off a 30-yard touchdown run to put the Titans up 12-8 at halftime.

South Central Calhoun would then score on the opening possession of the 2nd half, as Blake McAlister was on the receiving end of a 35-yard touchdown pass from Gavin Batta to put the Titans up 18-8. South Hamilton would respond as Austin Busch punched in his 2nd touchdown of the night to bring the score to 18-14. That’s all the closer the Hawks would get as penalties and shortage of time doomed their comeback hopes.

South Hamilton falls to 2-4 and will face Manson-Northwest Webster on Friday night.
