South Hamilton opened Heart of Iowa Conference play on Thursday night as they hosted the Greene County Rams. The Hawks came into Thursday night 10-11 on the season, while Greene County was 7-4, while having also won 2 out of the last 3 meetings against South Hamilton.
The first set was a back and forth battle between South Hamilton and Greene County, with both sides trading rally after rally. It was Greene County that pulled out the win in Set 1, taking 25-22. Set 2 saw the Rams get off to a fast start, and hold off South Hamilton 25-18, as mental mistakes began hurting the Hawks. The Rams then strengthened its grip in Set 3 as they dominated the Hawks, taking the decisive set, 25-8.
South Hamilton starts conference play 0-1 and dropped to 10-12 overall, while Greene County moved to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
