The Eagle Grove cross country teams traveled to Huxley on Monday to compete in the Ballard Invitational at the Huxley Country Club. The Eagle girls competed in Class B with foes such as Class 3A #1 Solon, 3A #6 Ballard, 3A #8 North Polk, Class 2A #13 Des Moines Christian and 2A #10 Roland-Story.
The Eagle Grove girls did not compete as a full team, as they did not place in the meet. However, junior Maddie Axtell laid down the highest finish for the Eagles at 43rd, in a time of 25:32. Freshman Lesley Mendez finished 73rd in a time of 33:40.
As for the Eagle Grove boys, they also compete in Class B with foes such as Class 3A #3 North Polk, 3A #11 Solon, Class 2A #6 Des Moines Christian and Class 1A #18 Madrid. The Eagle boys placed 8th with a team score of 217. The top placer for the Eagles was junior Drake Weland, who finished 20th in a time of 19:07. Sophomore Noah Thul finished 37th in a time of 20:18.
