Clarion-Goldfield-Dows volleyball goes winless in Osage Tournament

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows made the annual trip northeast to participate in the Osage Tournament on Saturday. The Cowgirls came into the weekend with a 7-1 record, with the lone loss coming to Webster City. Unfortunately for Katrina TerHark’s squad, that loss number ballooned throughout the day on Saturday.

The Cowgirls fell to the Comets of Charles City in their first match by scores of 25-22 and 25-14. In their second match, CGD faced off with Class 4A #8 Waverly-Shell Rock and we’re taken care of quickly in a 2-0 loss, with the Go-Hawks taking it by scores of 21-10 and 21-8. The 3rd match of the day saw the Cowgirls take on the Forest City Indians, and saw the Cowgirls win their only set of the day, after taking a 26-24 loss in set 1, they took set 21-15. However, the Cowgirls would fall in Set 3, 15-12.

In the afternoon slate, CGD faced off with the host Green Devils, who are ranked #8 in Class 2A. Osage took the match 2-0, winning set 1 21-11, and set 2, 21-18. The final match of the day saw a rematch between the Cowgirls and Charles City, and saw the Comets take another 2-0 win, as set 1 finished at 25-22, and set 2 finished at 25-14.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows fell to 7-6 after the tournament, and will look to rebound with a pair of matches this week. The Cowgirls host Clear Lake on Tuesday night at 7:30, and then host Eagle Grove on Thursday at 7:30.
