Eagle Grove falls to West Central Valley, 20-0

Eagle Grove looked to follow up their first win since October 2017 with another victory, this time against Wildcats of West Central Valley. West Central Valley came into Friday’s game with a similar 1-1 record, with a win against North Mahaska and a loss to Red Oak.

West Central Valley started the game fast out of the gate, as Braiden Beane hit Andrew Morrison on the game’s opening drive for a 53-yard touchdown pass to give the Wildcats a 6-0 lead. Following a fumble on the ensuing Eagle Grove drive, West Central Valley drove a short field and punched in an 8-yard touchdown run from Blaise Beane to give the Wildcats a 13-0 lead.

Another score would come halfway through the 2nd quarter for the Wildcats, with Eagle Grove backed up in the shadow of their own endzone. Eagles quarterback Tate Richardson was hit as he threw, and the ball landed into the hands of Kaedon Lindsay who walked into the endzone with a 3-yard pick six, to give West Central Valley a 20-0 lead.

It would be the final points either team would score in the game. West Central Valley will open up district play with AC/GC on Friday. Eagle Grove will open district play with Woodward-Granger on Friday.
