Clarion-Goldfield-Dows volleyball bounces back against Algona

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows took a critical early-season loss to Webster City last Thursday, that put the Cowgirls behind the 8-ball in the North Central Conference title race. The Cowgirls had a chance to bounce back Thursday night in Algona and did just that with a sweep of the Bulldogs.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows took set 1 in a nailbiter, that finished 25-23, before a more convincing win in set 2, by a final of 25-19. Algona would not go down without a fight, however, as they pushed the Cowgirls to the limit again in set 3, before CGD was able to pull out a 25-23 win. The Set 3 win gave the Cowgirls a hard-earned sweep of Algona.

Summer Traub lead the way for Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on Thursday night as she finished with 10 kills, juniors Lexie Lane and Kennedy Trca finished with 6 kills each. Nikki Kapka was the Cowgirls assist leader with 9, while also finishing with 3 kills, and freshman Indy Johnson finished with 4 assists.

Next action for Clarion-Goldfield-Dows will be Tuesday as they host the Lions of Clear Lake in conference play.
