Howard to retire as South Hamilton school superintendent this spring.

The search is beginning for a new school superintendent at South Hamilton. Ken Howard submitted his retirement request to the school board at their meeting on Monday evening. He will retire at the end of the current school year.Howard has been the superintendent since 2014. Board members will be looking at hiring a search firm with further discussion to continue at future board meetings. The board thanked Howard for his years of service to the South Hamilton community, students,families and staff.
The South Hamilton school board set February 8 for the public hearing for the 2021-22 school calendar with the approval to follow.
Board members Leigh Miller and Joely Swenson were selected to serve on the school board negotiating team for contract talks to begin in the next few weeks with the teaching staff for the 2021-22 school year.
The South Hamilton board approved the bid manual for the high school softball field lighting improvement project. Bid documents are available as of this week. The bids will be due by February 3 and will be opened the same time. The board will award the bid during their February 8th board meeting.
In other matters, the South Hamilton school board approved two fund raising requests. One is for t-shirt sales for a memorial for Cash Rapp who died last month. The other is for the collection of cans and plastic bottles from the prom meal and activities this spring. Over 1900 items and $535 was collected for the Lord’s Cupboard prior to the winter break. The board will take action on February 8 on the early retirement plan for staff for the the 2021 fiscal year.
