The first COVID-19 related death in Hamilton County was reported Sunday by the Hamilton County Public Health Department. On the department’s Facebook page,it was stated that due to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) laws,there is no further information that will be released as to the name of the person and residence. The Iowa Department of Public Health reported Monday morning that there are 182 positive cases of COVID-19 in Hamilton County. 124 people have since recovered. 1,870 Hamilton County residents have tested for the virus with 1,686 coming back as negative.
In the surrounding counties,Boone County reported 135 positive cases, Franklin County at 74,Hardin County at 65, Story County at 674, Webster County at 150 and Wright County at 369 as of Monday morning. There is more information online at coronavirus.iowa.gov.
